Engine Building
Engine Building

One of many areas Xero specialise in is engine building, mainly V8s and in particular, the Chevrolet LS range.
Xero have their own commited, experienced and meticulous engine builder which means they can offer a service to build engines to customer specifications.
The engine builder can talk the customer through every stage, and build an engine to suit their requirements, werther it be a balls out unit for drag racing, or a powerful yet managable and reliable unit more suitable for endurance racing, or even just a standard build with a slightly modified cam for a kit car.
Once built the engines can be dynoed before installation (either to be installed by Xero or the customer) so the customer knows exactly what they are getting, and can match the drive appropriately.

Facts and Figures:

- A bog standard LS1 straight from GM will create about 450hp. This is standard and un modified in any way.

- The LS1 (5.7litres) used by Xero in their Chevrolet Corvette in the Britcar 24hour race of 2008 made a stunning 570hp. This was made possible by using a number of heavily modified parts (some of which designed by Xero), meticulous block preparation by the engine builder, and a superior engine management system (EFI). This engine also utilised an ARE dry sump system,

- The LS7 (7.0litres) used by the Xero Chevrolet Corvette for the GT Cup rounds of 2009 made an impressive 668hp with 658lbft torque. This was possible by means of again a meticulously prepared block, an number of heavily modified parts, including a cam designed by Xero themselves. It also ran on an EFI engine management system. But new to this engine is a new specially designed intake system consisting of 8 throttle bodies, laid across each other. This kind of setup has never been utilised before on an LS7 engine. (A down draught system has been tried, but was found to induce the power and torque too quickly, which made the engine undriveable). Xero worked very closely with Jenvey, to produce a system that would not only fit on the Xero Corvette C5 race car, but also fits under the bonnet of a standard road going Corvette C6 Z06, which comes with the LS7 (505hp) fitted as standard.
