The Autosport Young Guns is a new incentive to encourage younger drivers into single seater racing. The series uses a single seater car, and will be eligible to 16-19 year olds looking to find a starting step into a career of single seater racing.
The championship format will run in support of the Dunlop Great and British package, which provides televised and strongly promoted meetings.
Following Friday testing each race will comprimise of a 20 minute qualifying session and 2 x 20 minute races. There will be 7 race meetings (14 races) throughout the year. The race calendar is sympathitic to the academic year and race meetings through May and the first 3 weeks of June will be avoided where possible to assist competitors who are taking school exams.
Points are awarded as follows:
32,27,23,20,18,16,14,12,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 for each race
2 point for pole position in race 1, and 1 point for the fastest lap in each race.
All point to count, no dropped scores.
There will be a race centre in the paddock of each meeting providing refreshments to anyone connected with the championship.
There will also be a spares truck at each meeting providing support.
